Kurnai College is committed to giving our students the best educational experience by continually improving and investing in our facilities. Recent significant works have transformed the Morwell Campus and updated facilities the Churchill Campus, providing both students with state-of-the-art spaces.

Morwell Campus

Between 2019 and 2023, the Morwell Campus underwent a significant, multi-stage redevelopment, transforming the site into a modern, dynamic learning environment.

The project commenced with the demolition of outdated facilities, including Blocks A, E and F, and the former Arts Block, to make way for contemporary, purpose-built spaces. The initial stage delivered key learning areas, including new Year 9–10 classrooms in the Orange Building, a state-of-the-art science facility in the Green Building, and a combined performing arts and food technology centre—featuring a 200-seat performance space—alongside a new canteen within the Purple Building.

Subsequent stages expanded the campus further. The Yellow Building introduced a dedicated Year 7–8 learning precinct, incorporating general learning areas, breakout spaces and seminar rooms, a new staffroom, and an art room. Additional works within the Purple Building included the construction of a modern library, an IT department, and an additional classroom.

The final phase of the redevelopment delivered a contemporary administration centre spanning over 500 square metres. This purpose-built facility includes staff workspaces, a welcoming reception area, meeting rooms, and flexible multipurpose spaces designed to support collaboration and the day-to-day operations of the College.

The redevelopment was complemented by targeted landscaping and infrastructure upgrades, including improved site drainage, covered walkways connecting buildings, and thoughtfully designed outdoor seating areas for students and staff.

Further investment in 2022 strengthened the campus’s digital capacity, with upgrades to IT infrastructure including server replacements and enhanced student laptop provision.

Collectively, these upgrades demonstrate a strong commitment to providing innovative, future-focused facilities that support student engagement, wellbeing, and improved learning outcomes.

Churchill Campus

The Churchill Campus has undergone a series of significant facility upgrades in recent years, enhancing both learning environments and student outcomes.

In 2019, the Science wing was refurbished to include two large, modern classrooms and a dedicated seminar space, providing students with improved opportunities for collaborative and practical learning.

More recently, the Food Technology area has been upgraded to feature contemporary, spacious preparation areas, brand new appliances, and improved ventilation systems. These enhancements support students in developing practical cooking and food design skills within a modern, industry-aligned environment.

The addition of a new conference room has also created a dedicated space for staff and regional colleagues to collaborate, strengthening teaching and learning practices across the College.

Together, these upgrades reflect a continued commitment to providing high-quality, contemporary facilities that support student engagement, skill development, and positive learning outcomes.

University Campus

Kurnai College’s University Campus, located within Federation University Australia’s Gippsland Campus, provides Year 11–12 students with access to a unique, tertiary-style learning environment supported by modern, shared facilities.

Students benefit from well-equipped, purpose-built spaces across a wide range of subjects. Science courses, including Chemistry, Physics and Biology, are delivered in dedicated laboratories, while specialist areas such as Woodwork, Metalwork and Food Technology are fully resourced to support practical learning. Creative subjects—including Art, Music and Theatre Studies—are delivered in facilities shared with the university, offering students access to industry-standard environments.

In addition, students can utilise key Federation University amenities such as the library and cafeteria, further enhancing their independent learning experience.

Kurnai College also extends its learning environment beyond the campus, with students studying Physical Education and Health and Human Development accessing specialised facilities at the Latrobe Leisure Centre in Churchill.

Together, these facilities provide a well-rounded, contemporary learning environment that supports diverse pathways and prepares students for further education and future careers.
